The Camel Trophy was a great showcase for Land Rover and its products. In the years it was run, each year from 1980 to 2000, Land Rover vehicles were used in all bar 3 events. Teams from countries around the world would compete in various off road challenges, over many days, travelling thousands of miles, through what first appeared to be unpassable roads. The Range Stormer is a one off concept car designed under the Land Rover brand. It was first unveiled at the 2004 North American International Auto Show. For Land Rover, this was an overtly sporty proposition, and due to extremely positive reactions from the public and the motoring press, was to be turned into a production vehicle, with a planned launch sometime in 2006. That vehicle was to be the Range Rover Sport.

The very first production Range Rover had the registration YVB 151H and is exhibitied at the Huddersfield Land Rover Centre in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. The first generation model was known as the Range Rover until almost the end of its life, when Land Rover introduced the name Range Rover Classic, to seperate it from its successors.

Land Rover's flagship model is the Range Rover. For over 40 years it has been the only real blue blooded 4x4, as at home carrying Royalty around their vast estates, as it is doing the school run, and keeping people moving during the winter months. The current Range Rover is the third generation, code named L322 (Ford system) and L30 (BMW system), it was launched in 2002, and at a development cost of £1 Billion, it is the most a car manufacturer has spent on car development in British motoring history.
